Article: Remembering the Iva Valley Massacre

An observance piece on post-colonial labour exploitation in Enugu's mining city.

Between 1903 and 1904, the British Imperial Institute began mineral surveys to identify resources worth exploiting, the start of decades of imperialist capitalism. On 18 November 1949, the miners of Iva Valley, Enugu mobilized under the African Mine Workers' Union to protest appalling working conditions and unfair wages. After negotiations with colliery management failed, authorities opened fire on the peaceful protesters, killing 21 people.

The bloodshed sparked national uproar, and nationalists such as Nnamdi Azikiwe and Obafemi Awolowo joined the call for justice. The miners' bravery became a model for resistance against imperial rule.

Brand Script: House of Tara "Legacy of Beauty"

A sponsored video script written in a creator's own voice to mark House of Tara's 27th anniversary.

The script opens with a personal hook, moves into the brand's history and its founder's impact on Nigerian beauty, then walks through an on-camera product try-on and closes with a call to action and campaign hashtags.

Excerpt

"We can't talk about the African Beauty Industry and its impact over the years without mentioning House of Tara. When I was much younger, my mom always had a House of Tara product or two in her makeup bag."

"House of Tara is turning 27! How amazing? Mrs Tara is also passing the baton on to a new Managing Director."

"Cheers to House of Tara and to every girl out there with big dreams. It is doable and we're going to accomplish it!"

Campaign: #HouseofTara@27 #LegacyofBeauty. Shared with House of Tara's permission.

Skills shown: voice matching, brand storytelling, scripting for camera, calls to action.

Case Study

Running operations for a public-facing physician and wellness founder

Situation

A physician, public figure, and wellness founder was managing a high-volume inbox, time-sensitive correspondence, and growing brand partnerships (NARS, Topicals, Substack) with no structured operating system.

Task

Provide full-scope executive assistance, coordinate events for community ventures, and set up one system for tracking brand assets, deadlines, and stakeholder communication.

Action

  • Triaged the inbox by urgency and drafted replies for approval.
  • Sent a plain-text daily briefing every morning.
  • Built a tracker for every brand partnership.
  • Coordinated end-to-end logistics with vendors, including 1Rebel for Skin + Spin.
  • Kept newsletter, social, and Substack content aligned to one editorial calendar.

Result

  • A structured inbox: urgent items surfaced first, with replies drafted and ready for approval.
  • One tracker for every brand partnership, so assets, deadlines, and approvals lived in a single place.
  • A consistent daily briefing that gave the founder a clear picture before each day began.
  • The Skin + Spin event with 1Rebel executed successfully.
  • Newsletter, social, and Substack content running from one editorial calendar.
